Farm Task force (VNSSM ) welcomes MSP hike in Pulses and Oil-Seeds but urge Indian Govt. reconsider Cotton ,Soybean & Paddy MSP

Maharashtra State-Sponsored Task force on agrarian crisis Vasantrao Naik Sheti Swavalambi Mission (VNSSM) welcomed Indian Govt.'s decision to give final nod to the recommendations of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) for the kharif season FY 2016-17 to hike the minimum support price (MSP) of arhar, urad and moong by up to Rs 425 per quintal starting September along with over and above the MSP, government has decided to give a bonus of Rs 425 per quintal for pulses and Rs 100-200 per quintal for oilseeds ,aiming to motivate farmers to grow more pulses and oilseeds to encourage more of production of pulses when the demand supply gap but same time register very low increase of Rs 60 in paddy and cotton MSP ,farm activist Kishore Tiwari who is also chairman Task force on agrarian crisis Vasantrao Naik Sheti Swavalambi Mission (VNSSM) informed today .
" Maharashtra Govt. has lunched special pluses and oil-seed promotion programme in the drought affected 14 districts of vidarbha and marathvada region to tackle the present agrarian crisis to curb prevailing farm distress replacing rain sensitive cash crop like Bt.cotton and sugarcane in this kharif season and this hike in (MSP) of arhar, urad and moong along with bonus will certainly boost up pluses and oil-seed production in the state moreover state government ensures 100% procurement of pulses at MSP that's added advantage & will make farmers comfortable to go for more pulses production" Tiwari added.
"In a dry-land drought hit region where farm suicides and agrarian crisis serious issue till land under cultivation for cotton and soybean are more than 4 million and 3 million hectors respectively which is till only cash crop of to boost rural economy but MSP hike in both crops is minimal and needs urgent intervention of Indian Govt. reconsider CACP recommendations which is must to address farmers distress in cotton growing region of Maharashtra and Task force will move the special petition before union Govt. to give special bonus for cotton and soybean" Tiwari informed .
